Introducing the AI Tutor: Get Personalised Hints When You're Stuck
We have all been there. You are working through a practice exam, you hit a question you cannot figure out, and you are stuck. You could guess and move on, but that does not help you learn. You could look up the answer, but then you have not really understood it.
Today we are launching something that solves this problem: an AI tutor built directly into every assessment and practice exam on LearningBro.
How It Works
When you are answering a question during a lesson assessment or a timed practice exam, you will see a small lightbulb button below each question. Click it, and within a few seconds you will receive a personalised hint.
The hint is not the answer. It is a nudge in the right direction. The AI tutor understands the topic being tested, the lesson material you have been studying, and even which exam board your course is aligned to. It uses that context to guide your thinking without doing the thinking for you.
For example, if you are stuck on an AQA Biology question about osmosis, the hint might remind you of the key principle at play and point you toward the relevant part of the lesson. If you are working through an Edexcel Maths question on differentiation, it might clarify the technique you need to apply. The goal is always the same: help you work it out yourself.
Why Hints, Not Answers?
Research consistently shows that retrieval practice — actively working to recall information — is one of the most effective ways to learn. Simply being told the answer short-circuits that process.
The AI tutor is designed around this principle. By giving you just enough information to unblock your thinking, it keeps you in the productive struggle zone where real learning happens. You still have to do the work, but you are not left completely in the dark.
This is the same approach a good human tutor would take. They would not just tell you the answer. They would ask a leading question, remind you of a concept, or reframe the problem. That is exactly what our AI tutor does.
What Makes It Different
Unlike a generic AI chatbot, the LearningBro AI tutor has context. It knows:
- Which course you are studying and the specific topic being assessed
- Which exam board your course is aligned to (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and more)
- The lesson content you have been learning, so hints reference material you have already seen
- The question and all its options, so it can guide you without revealing which option is correct
This makes the hints specific and relevant, not generic study advice you could find anywhere.
How Many Hints Do I Get?
Subscribers get 20 hints per day, which is more than enough for even an intensive study session. If you are on a free trial, you get 3 hints per day so you can try the feature and see how it helps.
Hints reset at midnight each day. If you run out, you can still complete your assessments and exams as normal — you just will not have the hint option until the next day.
Tips for Getting the Most from AI Hints
1. Try the question first. Do not reach for a hint before you have thought about it. Give yourself at least 30 seconds of genuine effort. The hint is more useful when you have already narrowed down your thinking.
2. Read the hint carefully. Hints are concise — usually two to four sentences. Every word is chosen to point you in the right direction. Read it twice if needed before looking at the options again.
3. Use it as a learning moment. After you get a hint and work out the answer, take a moment to understand why that hint helped. What concept had you forgotten or misunderstood? That is the gap you need to close in your revision.
4. Do not use hints on every question. If you are getting most questions right without hints, you are in good shape. Save your hints for the questions that genuinely stump you. This also helps you identify your weak spots — if you are using hints on the same topic repeatedly, that is a signal to go back and study that lesson again.
