This lesson is an integration lesson that brings together everything covered in the Sports Psychology topic of the Edexcel GCSE PE specification (1PE0). Rather than introducing new content, this lesson focuses on applying the concepts from Lessons 1–7 to realistic sporting scenarios — the kind you will encounter in exam questions worth 6–9 marks. Extended-response questions in the Edexcel PE exam typically require you to link multiple psychology topics together and apply them to a named sport or performer.
The sports psychology topics are not isolated — they link together in a logical chain:

The classification of the skill determines the practice type and teaching method. The performer's level determines the guidance and feedback. Goals and mental preparation support the whole process.

Even beginners can use mental preparation:
