Cultural note: The French enjoy debate and intellectual discussion far more than many English-speaking cultures. Disagreeing is not considered rude — it is seen as engaging and interesting. However, how you disagree matters. Starting with a concession (C'est vrai, mais...) shows respect for the other person's view.
