Note on Job Titles

German job titles have masculine and feminine forms. The feminine form usually adds -in:

der Koch	die Köchin	cook / chef

When stating your profession with sein, German does not use an article: Ich bin Lehrer. (not Ich bin ein Lehrer.) — though using the article is not strictly wrong, omitting it is standard.
