Present Tense Review

This final lesson brings together everything you have learned about the Italian present tense (presente indicativo). We will review all the conjugation patterns, summarise the key irregular verbs, revisit reflexive verbs and the piacere construction, and practise avoiding common mistakes.

The Three Regular Conjugation Patterns

Person	-ARE (parlare)	-ERE (scrivere)	-IRE (dormire)	-IRE + isc (capire)
io	parlo	scrivo	dormo	capisco
tu	parli	scrivi	dormi	capisci
lui/lei	parla	scrive	dorme	capisce
noi	parliamo	scriviamo	dormiamo	capiamo

Key patterns to remember:

• io always ends in -o (for all regular verbs)
• noi always ends in -iamo (for all verb groups, including -isc verbs)
• -ERE and -IRE share most endings (only voi differs: -ete vs -ite)
• -ARE is the only group with the vowel a in its endings (lui/lei -a, voi -ate, loro -ano)
