The -ERE verb group is the second family of Italian verbs. Although smaller than the -ARE group, it contains many essential everyday verbs. The conjugation process is the same: remove the infinitive ending and add the appropriate present tense suffix.
| Subject Pronoun | Ending | Example with scrivere | Translation |
|---|---|---|---|
| io | -o | scrivo | I write |
| tu | -i | scrivi | you write |
| lui / lei / Lei | -e | scrive | he/she writes |
| noi | -iamo | scriviamo | we write |
| voi | -ete | scrivete | you all write |
| loro | -ono | scrivono | they write |
Tip: Notice that the io form (-o) and noi form (-iamo) are the same across all three verb groups. The endings that differ between -ARE and -ERE are: tu (-i vs -i, same!), lui/lei (-a vs -e), voi (-ate vs -ete), and loro (-ano vs -ono).
