When talking about planned future actions, both ir + a + infinitive and the simple future can be used:
| Context | Example | English |
|---|---|---|
| Spoken, informal | Voy a viajar a Italia. | I'm going to travel to Italy. |
| Written, formal | Viajaré a Italia en junio. | I will travel to Italy in June. |
| Announcement | La conferencia comenzará a las nueve. | The conference will begin at nine. |
| Personal plan | Este verano estudiaré francés. | This summer I will study French. |
