Reading Strategy

When approaching a Greek word or sentence, follow these steps:

1. Identify individual letters (left to right).
2. Check for digraphs (αι, ει, οι, ου, μπ, ντ, γκ, αυ, ευ, etc.).
3. Locate the accent mark (tonos) — this tells you which syllable to stress.
4. Sound out the word syllable by syllable.
5. Read at natural speed.
