When approaching a Greek word or sentence, follow these steps:
Step 1: Identify individual letters (left to right)
Step 2: Check for digraphs (αι, ει, οι, ου, μπ, ντ, γκ, αυ, ευ, etc.)
Step 3: Locate the accent mark (tonos) — this tells you which syllable to stress
Step 4: Sound out the word syllable by syllable
Step 5: Read at natural speed
Read this paragraph slowly, letter by letter:
Η Αθήνα είναι η πρωτεύουσα της Ελλάδας.
Είναι μια πολύ μεγάλη πόλη με πολλά μουσεία.
Ο Παρθενώνας είναι στην Ακρόπολη.
Κάθε χρόνο, εκατομμύρια τουρίστες επισκέπτονται την Ελλάδα.
