Mental arithmetic fluency is like any skill — it improves with consistent, targeted practice and deteriorates without it. This lesson provides a training plan, drill sets, and benchmarks to track your improvement.
For the UCAT QR subtest, your target for each question is approximately 30 seconds of active calculation time (the remaining ~12 seconds are for reading the question and selecting the answer).
Within that 30 seconds, you may need to perform 2–3 calculations. This means each individual calculation should take 10 seconds or less — and ideally under 5 seconds for simple operations.
