A nursery worker watches two toddlers, Aimee and Ben, while their mothers are present and then briefly leave the room. Aimee plays happily and keeps looking back at her mother, becomes upset when her mother leaves, and is quickly comforted and settles when her mother returns. Ben plays on his own and barely reacts when his mother leaves; when she comes back he ignores her and carries on playing alone.
