D'un côté, la technologie est très utile. On peut rester en contact avec ses amis, faire des recherches facilement et apprendre de nouvelles choses en ligne. De plus, les applications éducatives m'aident beaucoup avec mes devoirs. Cependant, d'un autre côté, il y a des inconvénients. Beaucoup de jeunes passent trop de temps devant un écran et ne font pas assez d'exercice. En plus, le cyberharcèlement est un problème croissant et les fausses informations se propagent facilement sur Internet. À mon avis, il faut trouver un équilibre entre la vie en ligne et la vie réelle.
On one hand, technology is very useful. You can stay in touch with friends, do research easily and learn new things online. Moreover, educational apps help me a lot with my homework. However, on the other hand, there are disadvantages. Many young people spend too much time in front of a screen and do not do enough exercise. In addition, cyberbullying is a growing problem and fake news spreads easily on the Internet. In my opinion, we need to find a balance between online life and real life.
Exam tip: Use d'un côté… d'un autre côté… (on one hand… on the other hand…) to structure a balanced argument. This is a highly effective way to demonstrate sophisticated language use and is rewarded by examiners.
Exam tip: When discussing technology, demonstrate multiple tenses. For example: "Quand j'étais petit(e), je n'avais pas de portable (imperfect). Maintenant, j'utilise mon téléphone tous les jours (present). À l'avenir, la technologie sera encore plus importante (future)."

Exam tip: Online safety is a topic that comes up frequently in reading and listening papers. Learn phrases like il ne faut jamais…, il est important de… and on devrait… as they often appear in comprehension passages.

Exam tip: Be careful with the false friend une librairie — it means a bookshop, not a library. A library is une bibliothèque. This is a favourite trick in reading papers.
