Describing your daily routine is a common GCSE German topic that appears in all exam papers. It requires reflexive verbs, time expressions, separable verbs and the ability to sequence events. This lesson covers essential daily routine vocabulary, the grammar of reflexive verbs, time expressions and connectives for creating fluent descriptions.
Reflexive verbs are verbs where the subject performs the action on themselves. In German, they use a reflexive pronoun (sich).
| Subject | Reflexive Pronoun | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ich | mich | Ich wasche mich. (I wash myself.) |
| du | dich | Du wäschst dich. (You wash yourself.) |
| er/sie/es | sich | Er wäscht sich. (He washes himself.) |
| wir | uns | Wir waschen uns. (We wash ourselves.) |
| ihr | euch | Ihr wascht euch. (You wash yourselves.) |
| sie/Sie | sich | Sie waschen sich. (They wash themselves.) |
