Describing your daily routine is a key GCSE Spanish topic tested in speaking, writing, reading and listening exams. Daily routines use reflexive verbs extensively, so this lesson covers reflexive verb formation, time expressions, sequencing connectives and model answers for describing a typical day.
A reflexive verb indicates that the subject performs the action on themselves. In Spanish, reflexive verbs are identified by the -se ending on the infinitive (e.g. levantarse = to get up / to get oneself up).
| Subject | Pronoun | Example with levantarse |
|---|---|---|
| yo | me | me levanto (I get up) |
| tú | te | te levantas (you get up) |
| él/ella/usted | se | se levanta (he/she gets up) |
| nosotros/as | nos | nos levantamos (we get up) |
| vosotros/as | os | os levantáis (you all get up) |
| ellos/ellas/ustedes | se | se levantan (they get up) |
