Me interesa mucho el voluntariado porque creo que es importante ayudar a los demás. El año pasado participé en un proyecto solidario en mi ciudad donde ayudamos a recoger alimentos para un banco de alimentos. Fue una experiencia muy gratificante porque sabía que estaba ayudando a personas que realmente lo necesitaban. En el futuro, me gustaría hacer un año sabático y trabajar como voluntaria en un país en vías de desarrollo, quizás en Latinoamérica. Creo que sería una experiencia increíble y podría practicar mi español al mismo tiempo. Todo el mundo debería hacer algo para ayudar — incluso las pequeñas acciones pueden marcar la diferencia.

The following model text would suit the Higher-tier writing prompt ¿Por qué es importante el voluntariado? (Why is volunteering important?). It uses past, present and future tenses, conditional and subjunctive structures, and demonstrates topical depth.
El voluntariado es, en mi opinión, una de las maneras más valiosas de contribuir a la sociedad. En un mundo donde existen tantos problemas — la pobreza extrema, el hambre, la guerra y los refugiados — cada acción cuenta. Yo empecé a hacer voluntariado el año pasado cuando mi colegio organizó un proyecto solidario con un comedor social del barrio. Cada sábado por la mañana íbamos al comedor para servir comida a personas sin hogar. Al principio me daba un poco de miedo, pero pronto descubrí que las personas que iban allí eran amables y agradecidas. Aprendí que no debemos juzgar a nadie por su situación. Esa experiencia me cambió la vida. Ahora, cuando termine los exámenes de GCSE, me gustaría participar en un proyecto en el extranjero, quizás en un país en vías de desarrollo de Latinoamérica. Sueño con enseñar inglés a niños en una escuela rural y, al mismo tiempo, perfeccionar mi español. Si tuviera la oportunidad, también participaría en proyectos de construcción de viviendas — sería increíble ver cómo una familia se muda a una casa que tú has ayudado a construir. Es fundamental que los países desarrollados ayudemos a los más necesitados; no se trata solo de dinero, sino también de tiempo, conocimientos y solidaridad. Aunque a veces parezca que un solo voluntario no puede cambiar el mundo, creo firmemente que cada gesto cuenta. Como dice el refrán: "muchos pocos hacen un mucho".
Volunteering is, in my opinion, one of the most valuable ways of contributing to society. In a world where there are so many problems — extreme poverty, hunger, war and refugees — every action counts. I started volunteering last year when my school organised a solidarity project with a soup kitchen in the neighbourhood. Every Saturday morning we went to the soup kitchen to serve food to homeless people. At first I was a bit scared, but I soon discovered that the people who went there were friendly and grateful. I learned that we must not judge anyone by their situation. That experience changed my life. Now, when I finish my GCSE exams, I would like to take part in a project abroad, perhaps in a developing country in Latin America. I dream of teaching English to children in a rural school and, at the same time, perfecting my Spanish. If I had the opportunity, I would also take part in house-building projects — it would be incredible to see how a family moves into a house that you have helped to build. It is essential that developed countries help those most in need; it is not just about money, but also about time, knowledge and solidarity. Although it sometimes seems that one volunteer cannot change the world, I firmly believe that every gesture counts. As the saying goes: "many small things make a big thing".
