W-Questions (Verb Second)

Yes/No Questions (Verb First)

Verb	Subject	Rest	Translation
Sprichst	du	Deutsch?	Do you speak German?
Haben	Sie	Kinder?	Do you have children?
Ist	das	richtig?	Is that correct?
Kommt	er	morgen?	Is he coming tomorrow?
Können	Sie	mir helfen?	Can you help me?

No "do/does": Just move the verb.

Ja, Nein, Doch

Answer	When	Example
Ja	Agree with positive	Ja, ich spreche Deutsch.
Nein	Disagree	Nein, ich habe keine Kinder.
Doch	Contradict negative	Sprichst du kein Deutsch? — Doch!

Indirect Questions (Verb at End)

With W-Words

Direct	Indirect
Wo wohnt er?	Ich weiß nicht, wo er wohnt.
Was macht sie?	Kannst du sagen, was sie macht?
Wann kommt der Zug?	Wissen Sie, wann der Zug kommt?

With "Ob" (for yes/no)

Direct	Indirect
Kommt er?	Ich weiß nicht, ob er kommt.
Spricht sie Deutsch?	Ich frage mich, ob sie Deutsch spricht.
Hast du Zeit?	Er fragt, ob du Zeit hast.
