Adverbs (avverbi) modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They answer questions like "how?", "when?", "where?", and "how much?" Italian adverbs can be formed from adjectives or exist as independent words.
The most productive way to form adverbs in Italian is by adding -mente to the feminine singular form of an adjective (equivalent to English "-ly"):

If the feminine adjective ends in -le or -re, drop the final -e before adding -mente:
